About Bonne Terre, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The bustling city of Bonne Terre is located in St. Francois County, Missouri. As of the 2010 census, about 6,900 people resided here. The community was settled in 1720 by the French after the discovery of iron ore, and it was latter platted as a town in 1880. The name is actually an ode to its early history, as La Bonne Terre translates to “the good soil.” The town is now home to the Bonne Terre Memorial Library, and the local school district operates three schools here.

There are many interesting places to visit in Bonne Terre. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the hiking trails at St. Francois State Park, and Cherokee Landing offers floats on the Big River. There are several educational destinations here, including The Space Museum and the Bonne Terre Mine Site, which was a target of Prices Raid in the American Civil War. There are also several specialty shops in Bonne Terre, including Cutt-N-Sew Quilt Shop, Bonne Terre Antiques, and Willette Home Furniture and Appliance.

The climate of Bonne Terre features very hot and humid summers. While high temperatures often reach the 90s at the peak of the season, oppressive humidity levels can make it feel much warmer. Central air conditioning can improve indoor comfort by reducing temperatures and humidity levels from inside air.

Winter weather in Bonne Terre is quite different from summertime conditions. Temperatures cool off throughout the autumn season, and by January, highs reach the low-40s. While the area only receives about 12 inches of snow in the average winter, freezing rain and other precipitation are common, so it is important to have the proper furnace system at home. Residents searching for a new furnace should seek out a system with a variable-speed blower which can deliver air slower when less heat is needed, as these units tend to be quieter than single-speed systems.
